Capital Participates in Month of Volunteering at Redstone Highlands

To commemorate National Volunteer Week, which took place from April 7th – 13th, Capital Healthcare Services decided to turn it into our own “Volunteer Month”, with employees from each division volunteering their time and service to the residents at Redstone Highlands! Twenty-one members of Capital Healthcare Services’ internal staff signed up for 4-hour volunteer time slots throughout the month of April and the beginning of May to engage with and learn about the senior residents at the North Huntingdon campus of Redstone Highlands.  Our volunteers helped coordinate activities with the residents, including nail painting, coloring, and the ever-popular BINGO!  Healthcare Recruiter, Kramer Frye, even entertained the residents with a set of old favorites on his acoustic guitar.

“It was a great opportunity to step out of the office and directly connect with a portion of the population our company serves,” says Social Media and Marketing Specialist, Michelle Adams. “We were so pleased with the number of employees who were willing show their passion for compassion by volunteering their time!”  We sincerely thank everyone who volunteered for this initiative, and we look forward to coordinating more volunteering events in the future and expanding our reach to additional clients in neighboring communities!

Capital's Holiday Gift Drive for Ronald McDonald House Charities

We would like to extend our sincere gratitude to everyone who donated to our Holiday Gift Drive for the Ronald McDonald House Charities of Pittsburgh! Our generous participants made it possible to pack one of sister company Harmony Home Healthcare's vehicles to the brim with donations!

Harmony’s Client Service Manager, Jamie Bayer (seen below), had the privilege of working closely with the Ronald McDonald House throughout the holiday campaign, as well as delivering the donations, and was especially touched by just how appreciative they were to receive our collection of gifts. “They were truly blown away by the amount of gifts we were able to stuff in a Kia,” Jamie says. “They were really in need of items for infants and commented on how many infant items we were able to collect.”

We are proud to be part of an organization and team that values compassion, charity, and the importance of giving back to the community! From the bottom of our hearts, we thank you, and also wish you and your loved ones a blessed holiday!

Capital Supports "Hope for the Holidays" Gift Drive on Giving Tuesday

Today, on Giving Tuesday, the employees of Capital Healthcare Services prepare donations for “Hope for the Holidays”, a Christmas gift drive for Project STAR of The Children’s Institute.  Project STAR, through Pittsburgh’s STAR 100.7 radio station, serves local foster and adoptive families of children with special needs or circumstances. This initiative was spearheaded by sister company Harmony Home Healthcare’s Private Duty Client Service Manager and Core Value Team member, Shannon Gutwald.  With her leadership, and donations from the internal employees of Capital Healthcare Services, we were able to sponsor eight families with holiday donations.

We are so grateful for the generosity of our colleagues and CEO, Art Hoopes, for making this company contribution possible!  We encourage our friends and community members to take today to give back to those in need as well, whether it be through your time, talent, or treasure.  Join us on Giving Tuesday to make spirits bright with the true meaning of the holiday season!

Capital Hosts 4th Annual PINK OUT Day for Breast Cancer Awareness!

In 2018, an estimated 266,120 new cases of invasive breast cancer are expected to be diagnosed in women in the U.S., along with 63,410 new cases of non-invasive breast cancer. Also, about 1 in 8 U.S. women will develop invasive breast cancer over the course of her lifetime, and it is estimated that 40,920 women will die from breast cancer this year.

If these statistics shock you, you aren't alone! That is why each year we team together to raise awareness and give back to those who are fighting the battle.

Capital Healthcare Services hosted our 4th annual Pink Out Day for Breast Cancer Awareness on Friday, October 26th.   Our employees had a great time getting “pinked up” from head to toe for a great cause! This year, the Core Values Team donated $5 for each employee who dressed up, to Look Good Feel Better, a nonprofit dedicated to improving the quality of life and self-esteem of people undergoing cancer treatment!.

With the participation we received, plus a matching donation, we were able to raise $400!  It’s such a simple way to do some good for those in need, and we hope that we inspire other individuals, groups, and organizations to continue to pay it forward!

We also awarded a $100 Apple gift card to the Capital and Harmony field employees wearing the most pink!  Congratulations to our winner, Jasmine Jarrett!

A special thank you to everyone who participated!
